Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU)A Post-doctoral Position within the field of atmospheric and space physics is available at the Department of Physics at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). The duration of the appointment is 2 years. The work will be within the Atmospheric and Environmental Physics group to examine the observational evidence for solar and energetic particle effects on neutral atmosphere chemistry and dynamics. Atmospheric radar, airglow and radiometer data will be examined for such signatures using both ground-based and satellite platforms.

The position will be part of the Birkeland Centre for Space Science (BCSS), a Research Council of Norway international collaborative centre of excellence. Hence the position, located at NTNU, will provide abundant opportunities for scientific cooperation with both the international and Norwegian space-science communities

The position is organized at the Department of Physics. Currently, there are 26 professors, 10 associate professors, 6 adjunct professors, 75 PhD research fellows and 25 postdoctoral positions appointed at the Department of Physics. Further information is available at:

The successful applicant should be highly competent, motivated and ambitious. The candidate should have a PhD in Atmospheric Science, Space Physics or a related field, with strong data analysis, statistical and programming skills. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written are important, and the applicant should speak and write English fluently.

The appointment of the Post-doctoral Fellow will be made according to Norwegian guidelines for universities and university colleges and to the general regulations regarding university employees. The position is remunerated according to the Norwegian State salary scale. Post doctor associates are remunerated in salary code 1352, normally at wage level 57 on the Norwegian Government pay scale, gross NOK 473.100 per year before tax. There is 2% pension deduction.
